On a personal note, I would just like to thank all members of Malice, passed and current, for helping make this guild what it is - without doubt the best guild on any realm. No other group of people could manage the level of commitment and progression alongside the relaxed and fun atmosphere. You have all helped to make my job all the more enjoyable, and have helped me to make many friends.

To all in Malice, and all that have passed through, thanks.

Well, here I am again. Back in November 2006 when we formed the guild, Detk, Iranel and I decided to lead as a trio (and very soon after, a quartet with the addition of Druisilla). Somebody had to have Rank 0, and I remember there being very little discussion at all before it was bestowed on me. Quickly, I changed the name of the rank to "Officer" (it was, after all, to be a jointly led guild) which caused no end of questions from some later recruits ("You have no GM? How did you do that?").

As Iranel drifted away to pastures new, and Druisilla realized that he had no real desire to dwell in the dark realms of officerdom, Detk and I remained stalwart in our vision for Malice. With the promotion of Hondadylan and, later, Deucalion to the officer rank, we increased the strength and depth of the team running Malice, felt it was time to restate our goals and intentions, and Detk stepped up to the challenge of guiding our guild through the perilous times of The Burning Crusade. We had our highs and our lows but Detk, and his team of officers, saw us through them all.

We worked our way resolutely through Karazhan, gearing up and making good progress. Frustratingly and repeatedly we saw people come, get geared, and move on to guilds capable of regularly running the 25-man content, keeping us at a level where we could not progress there ourselves. We tried merges out to other guilds (fail) and we tried merges in from other guilds (fail). No matter what we did, we always came back to Malice. What we have here is just too good to lose or dilute!

With this frustration, and after these failed attempts at change, Detk felt it was time for him to take a bit more of a backseat, and Hondadylan took the reins, promising Detk that he'd look after us all. He began talking to a guild in a similar situation to ours, we formed the Coalition and started to make our way through Gruul, Maggy, Tempest Keep and Serpentshrine Cavern. Although we weren't doing it by ourselves, and although there were some frustrations along the way, it was great to get the opportunity to see the content we had not been able to attempt.

The Lich King beckoned us all to Northrend, and Honda gladly allowed Detk to retake the helm with the upcoming responsibility of leading us into Northrend to face the new challenges that awaited us there. As a guild who had only been capable of 10-mans, the Northrend raid instances and related achievements looked very promising indeed.

Under Detk's leadership, and with the raid leading talents of Hondadylan, Deucalion and myself, we worked our way through Naxx, OS and downed Malygos the week that 3.1 hit. Even better, during this time, we had successfully built up our player base to be able to take on the 25-man content ourselves, had recruited another officer and raid leader in the shape of Dinac, and were ready to hit Ulduar running. The Wrath goals had been met and Detk, starting to feel that his job and time leading us all was done, began pining for the peaceful pastures of the Barrens.

Ulduar posed unique challenges (and still does) and, happily, we found ourselves with some incredibly talented members wanting to take on more of the raid leadership and to push us through. Huiy, Luey and Swordai were duly given employment as raid leaders, and we twisted Unionshifter's wing until he squawked that he would indeed join the ranks of the officers.

With the strength of the team we have at the top today, it couldn't be any more comfortable to step into the shoes of Detk (although they do smell distinctly of orc) and I am very happy to be continuing his fine work, and taking us forward to meet all the challenges that the Lich King (and associated Northrend distractions) will present - and beyond! The core goals of Malice remain unchanged - to have fun, to make progress, to enjoy ourselves - and with Detk, Hondadylan, Dinac, Deucalion, Unionshifter, Huiy, Luey and Swordai at my side, I have no fear of failure.

My own personal thanks to Detk: thank you so, so much for being the kind, fair and gracious leader that has shaped what we know today as Malice. You may not be Master of Malice any more, but I will always be at your service. *wipes away tear* You will always be a part of this guild and you should be proud of what has been achieved in your time as our leader.

So, let's go forward, while continuing to keep Malice the place that we know and love. It's a wonderful guild, full of wonderful people and, no matter what, that will never change.

Hey man, I been out WoW for a while now but I just wanted to say thanks for all the good times and hard work you put in whilst I was a proud member of this fine crew.
I have very fond memories of Malice, my first raiding guild, and you and Zaq have been the driving force for that. I remember all the fun, my first day, my first raid, being made an officer (possibly the only bad call you ever made ;)) discussing the subleties of the perfect slice of toast in steamvaults, restarting the chess event without realizing you had to finish it before you could move to the next event(sorry).. sigh. happy times..

Have always had a lot of respect for the core people in Malice who remains some of the greatest people I have played alongside during my time in this game.

Detk, Zaq, Drui, Deucalion, Honda to name a few. I have had the privilege of being in the best (progress wise) guilds on this server both alliance and horde, but Malice has an almost unique vision of progress balanced with real life which you will struggle to find in many other places on this server.

Good job guys and I hope Malice continues to go from strength to strength!
